Loretta Anna Suhr, age 94, of Mitchell, SD died Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Firesteel Healthcare Community. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM.
Loretta Anna Suhr, daughter of Hubert and Clara (Koster) Suhr, was born March 13, 1931 in Dimock, SD. She was raised on a farm near Dimock and worked in Mitchell as a cashier at Ruby Ann Cafeteria. In 1956 moved to Rapid City and was employed as a waitress for many years. During this time Loretta went to night classes at Central High School and received her GED. She later attended night classes at National College where she took computer training.
Loretta later worked at Montgomery Wards Catalog Office until the company closed the office. She then went to work for Landstroms Black Hills Gold Co. for eight years. Loretta retired from the company in July of 1993. She remained in Rapid City until 2009 when she moved back to Mitchell after 53 years of enjoying the Black Hills.
Loretta was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. While living in the Black Hills, she volunteered at the Cathedral in Rapid City as a volunteer and a money counter.
Grateful for having shared her life are her siblings, Mildred Gebel, Mitchell, SD, Dorothy Degen, Mitchell, SD, Donald Suhr, Bismarck, ND, Arnold (Kathy) Suhr, Mitchell, SD, Alvina Boehmer, Mitchell, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leonard Suhr.
