Loretta Wilcox Obituary

Loretta Butterfield Wilcox

1937- 2025

Herriman, Utah - Loretta Butterfield Wilcox

December 14, 1937 – September 17, 2025

Loretta Butterfield Wilcox went home September 17, 2025 to join her husband, son and many relatives. Born December 14, 1937 to Willis Wayne Butterfield and Mildred Hamilton Butterfield in Herriman, Utah

Mom grew up on the family sheep farm. She loved riding the horse behind her dad at the summer range. He would always hold back the branches so her legs wouldn't get scraped. She loved helping her mom any way she could, especially picking the cherries and raspberries. At 16 years old she met the love of her life Rulon Wilcox. They went to Elko, Nevada and got married. And so the adventure of almost 71 years together began. They had 6 children, and adventure in Edmonton, Alberta for almost 10 years. Then they moved back to Utah to be closer to family. Mom always took care of everyone, especially Dad and Ron through many surgeries even during some of her own. Mom was a tough lady, even surviving Hanta virus. She had many titles: chief cook, seamstress, cake decorator, homemaker, book keeper, veterinarian, mechanic, medical "Doctor", but most important to her was wife, mother, and grandmother. A choice daughter of God.

In all the things in her life she never complained. She would always say "I'm fine." She just got to work and got things done.

Mom always relied on the Lord. She had great faith and taught us all to love the Lord, to pray, to study, to pay our tithing, and to serve the Lord always.

Loretta is survived by her brother Gene and Tammy Butterflied, children; Michael and Laura Wilcox, Darline and Rick Christensen, Janette Wilcox, David Wilcox, Craig and Annette Wilcox. "Adopted" daughter Jackie Fruno, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and many extended family.

Preceded in death by husband Rulon Wilcox, son Ronald, parents Wayne and Mildred Butterfield, sisters Rita, Linda, Myrna, brothers Rodney, Dwayne, Weston, grandchildren Michael Ray, Roger, Sara, daughter in law Sandy and great granddaughter Mackenzie.
