Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Directors, Inc. - AmblerLorette Elaine Abramson passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026 at the age of 87 with her loving family by her side.
She was a long-time NJ resident and recent retiree to the warm weather of Palm Desert, CA.
Lorette was born in London, England in 1938 and bravely immigrated to Brooklyn, NY on her own at the age 17, before settling into her long and happy life in Northfield, NJ. During her life, Lorette was known to many in numerous circles. As the librarian for Mill Road School in the 70’s, she was a favorite among the students with many cutting class just to see her. Lorette later moved on to her long-time career as a paralegal, working for numerous esteemed attorneys with her longest tenure at Cooper Levenson Law Firm for over 45 years. Lorette was a favorite of colleagues and clients alike, known widely as the posh British voice of the firm. Her impact on her workplace mirrored her impact on her community — from her days supporting Northfield Cardinals, PTA, numerous organizations, to her long-time involvement with the March of Dimes Telethon, she was well known throughout Atlantic County. A particular point of pride for Lorette was her work supporting Boardwalk Star Review, where she assisted in putting on variety shows all over South Jersey and beyond— from Garden Pier in Atlantic City to local nursing homes — spotlighting young emerging talent. Lorette was always looking for ways to make an impact by volunteering within the county, including bringing supplies to homeless shelters during the holiday season.
When it came to helping others, Lorette’s answer was always a resounding “yes”. She was a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and a colleague that others could truly count on. If someone she loved was in need, Lorette was sure to be there ready to help how she could. Outside of her relationships with others and charitable work, Lorette was a skilled artist and painter. The walls of her home were covered in her art — water color and oil paintings of landscapes and women that she had encountered in life or in her imagination — a fact that filled her family with pride. Her charm, wit and love for life will never be forgotten.
Lorette is survived by her beloved daughter Janis (Abramson) Powell, and her cherished grandchildren Evan Powell, wife Megan Powell and Austin Powell.
She also leaves behind wonderful friends that brought her love and joy throughout her life.
Lorette is predeceased by her father Abraham Jack Gluckstein, her mother Annie (Anita) Gluckstein and her sister Sheila Gluckstein with whom she has now rejoined for a “good cuppa tea”.
Donations may be made in her honor to the March of Dimes New Jersey Chapter.
