Lori Jean Almonte, "Our Special Angel", gained her wings on Saturday, August 23, 2025 unexpectedly with her sister Suzanne and cousin Mariann by her side.

Lori was born in Providence on November 1, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Doreen (Kelley) Almonte of Warwick.

Lori lived in a group home and had been in the Special Olympics. She was a best buddy to many. Lori loved music, dancing, and was always happy. She loved everyone. Lori had a vibrant and social personality and always bragged about being born on All Saints Day.

She is survived by her loving sister, Suzanne Varela (Mario) of Warwick, her brothers, Michael Almonte of Warwick and Richard Almonte (Stephanie) of Cranston, her nephews, Mario Varela (Abigail), Michael Varela (Alyssa), Angelo Almonte IV, Joseph Angelo Almonte, her nieces, Amanda Mansolillo (Anthony), Brianna Almonte (Matt), Ashley Almonte, and Melissa Almonte, and her Fogarty Home family. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.

She was the sister of the late John P. Almonte and Angelo Almonte III.

Lori's Family would like to thank Our Lady of Fatima Hospital for the excellent care they gave to her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:00AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 8:30AM-9:30AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Interment will take place at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Special Olympics Rhode Island, Attn: Donations, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917
