“Lori A. Young passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the arms of family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Young; her cherished son, Joshua Young; her father, Thomas Colihan Sr.; her brother, Thomas Colihan Jr.; and her beloved dog, Maddie. She is also remembered by countless friends and relatives who loved her deeply. Lori has now joined her mother, Elaine Colihan, and her dog, Banjo, in eternal peace.
Lori embraced life with warmth, joy, and contagious humor that lifted those around her. She was an avid tennis and pickleball player, a devoted book club member, and she treasured every trip to the beach. She was endlessly proud of her son, and some of her happiest moments were spent visiting Josh at Yale University, where he continues his studies today.
A woman of remarkable strength and determination, Lori proudly completed the Marine Corps Marathon. Her faith was a constant source of guidance, and she was a devoted Catholic and longtime parishioner of Holy Redeemer Church in College Park, MD. Lori also dedicated more than 30 years of service to the United States government, where she worked with commitment, professionalism, and pride before retiring. Few people Lori worked with remained just coworkers; many of her closest and most cherished friends came from her time at the Department of Transportation and NASA.
Her battle with breast cancer was one of many examples of Lori's courage and resilience. Though her time with us ended far too soon, Lori lived her life fully with gratitude, generosity, and endless love for her friends and family. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew her.
We appreciate those of you who choose to extend tokens of care in the form of floral arrangements and the like; alternatively, donations could be sent to the Wellness House of Annapolis, a much-appreciated resource for all those touched by cancer. https://annapoliswellnesshouse.org/donate/
