Lori Kay McCutcheon, born on April 17, 1961, in Newton, Kansas, passed away on July 15, 2025, in Kansas City. She leaves behind a legacy filled with boundless energy, creativity, and passion.
Lori had a dynamic career as a computer programmer and concluded her professional journey as a business analyst. She was a proud graduate of Wichita State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Her intellect and professional vigor were matched only by her strong spirit and enthusiasm for life.
From an early age, Lori's high-energy personality was evident, as her mother fondly recalled her running in circles in their living room, a lively indicator of Lori’s enduring determination and zest for life. She possessed a unique ability to connect with others, and many who knew her would say she had never met a stranger. Her engaging nature fostered relationships that spanned her personal and professional life, enriching the lives of countless individuals.
Lori had a profound love for music; she learned to play the violin at a young age and continued cultivating this passion throughout her life. In addition to music, she cherished travel, creating lasting memories on remarkable journeys. She treasured her trips to Japan with her mother, explorations of France and England with her family, and yearly skiing adventures in Colorado. In the later years of her life, her visits to Disney World and travels around the United States, France, and Italy became cherished experiences.
Furthermore, Lori discovered a creative outlet in woodworking, immersing herself in projects that showcased her skill and ingenuity. It was not uncommon for her to dismantle something simply to recreate it in a more impressive form, signifying her dedication to craftsmanship and her belief in continuous improvement.
Though Lori attended various churches throughout her life, she held a special fondness for the teachings of her Grandpa Moreland, her favorite minister, who greatly influenced her spiritual path.
Lori is survived by her son, Sean McCutcheon; her brother, Paul McCutcheon; her sister-in-law, Val McCutcheon; and her former spouse, Julia Gosney-McCutcheon. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, David E. and Norma L. McCutcheon.
Lori Kay McCutcheon will be remembered for her vivacity, her impressive array of talents, and her unwavering connection to those she loved. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
