Lori Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 24, 2026.
Lori Michelle Smith, 64, passed away peacefully and entered the gates of Heaven on January 23, 2026, in Crestview, Florida. She was born on April 1, 1961, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and was known for her creativity and her devotion to her family and friends.

Lori was married to Troy Smith for 38 years, and together they raised their family in Niceville, Florida, where many memories were made.

She was the beloved daughter of Charles Spradley, who survives her, and Minnie Spradley, who preceded her in death. Lori is survived by her brother Scott Spradley and her sisters Carrie Brummett and Jodi Gallion. She was preceded in death by her sister Kelli Miller.

Lori was a devoted mother to Lance Cartwright (Paige Cartwright), Nadia Wright, and Hayley McElvaney (Justin McElvaney). She took great pride in her role as "Mimi" to her grandchildren: Carly Wright, Nina (Gabby) Cartwright, Lori Cartwright, Keegan Wright, and Natalie McElvaney. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Layla and Emerson Henderson.

She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Lori enjoyed making art, gardening, and reading, often spending her time with a book, working on a creative project, or tending to her garden.

Lori's love for her family, her creativity, and her joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

In the words of her favorite singer, Elton John: "Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did."

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 5-7pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the family's meal train during this difficult time.
