Lori L. Willging

Lori Lyn Willging, 59, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023 at her home in Freeport, Illinois with her loving husband Pete at her side.
Lori was born on October 29, 1963 in Freeport. She was raised in Cedarville and Lena by her parents, Jim and Sharon (Rygh) Huber and met the love of her life, Pete (Peter) Willging, while attending Highland Community College in Freeport. They were married on June 1, 1985 at Lena United Methodist Church in Lena, Illinois. Pete and Lori were the delighted parents of Ellie (Eleanor), who was Lori's pride and joy. Lori was also proud of her 35-year career as Accounting Manager at Fehr Graham Engineering and Environmental Services, where she loved her job and was a beloved coworker and mentor. She was a past board member at Voices of Stephenson County, a community organization that supports survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Lori enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking day trips and long weekends away to interesting destinations, and was a passionate founding member of a close group of friends affectionately known as WUFF (Women United For Fun) who met often to share many happy occasions. She will be forever remembered as a beautiful, intelligent, and fun-loving woman. She was unflappable, capable, and could navigate gracefully through any situation. Most of all, though, she will be remembered as Ellie's devoted and caring mother. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Lori is survived by Pete, her husband of 38 years; daughter Ellie Willging of Justice, Illinois (near Chicago); her brother Tim Huber and his wife Sally; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jeffrey Huber.

A private family gathering will be held there with Chaplain Sean Huguenin officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration remembering Lori on Thursday, July 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Freeport Club, 1614 South Park Blvd. in Freeport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lori's honor to Voices of Stephenson County.
