Lorraine DePasquale Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Main Office on Jan. 30, 2026.
Lorraine M. DePasquale (Macchione), 90, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in

Plymouth, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 18, 1935, Lorraine was raised in the close-knit Italian village of

Thompsonville in Newton. A proud graduate of Newton High School, she spent more than 70

years in Newton before moving in 2010 to Plymouth, where she settled on Priscilla Beach and

enjoyed a beautiful ocean view.

Lorraine devoted her career to the City of Newton, where she was a respected and passionate

advocate for employees. She served as Human Resource Special Project Manager and Benefits

Administrator and was a former President of the City of Newton AFSCME Traffic Supervisors

Union. One of her proudest accomplishments was helping lead the installation of the Retired

City Employee Memorial Fountain, which stands in front of Newton City Hall as a lasting tribute

to those who served the city she loved.

Above all else, Lorraine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was

the mother of five children and is survived by four: Michael P. DePasquale Jr. and his wife

Kathleen of North Haven, Connecticut; Mark S. DePasquale and his wife Christine of Plymouth,

Massachusetts; Laura Cunniff and her husband Glenn of Mansfield, Massachusetts; and Lizabeth

Roberts and her husband Scott of Auburn, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her beloved

son, Matthew J. DePasquale, and is survived by his wife Amy of Northbridge, Massachusetts.

Lorraine's kitchen was the heart of her home. An excellent cook, she expressed her love through

food, best known for her homemade pasta, which brought family together around her table time

and again. Sunday meals, holidays, and everyday visits were filled with laughter and full plates.

After dinner, she was always ready for a game and was known as the best Parcheesi player in the

family, fiercely competitive and rarely beaten.

She is lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who brought

her endless joy and pride. Her presence was steady, her opinions were honest, and her devotion

to her family never wavered.

A private service will be held with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be

made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.stjude.org
