Burlington – Lorraine Carter Dove, 82 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2023 She was born in Leasburg to the late Stull “Sterling” and Bettie Wade Carter and the wife of almost 60 years to the late Bobby Ray Dove, Sr.
Lorraine was a 1959 graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School and married the love of her life, Bobby Ray Dove, Sr. in 1962. She was employed with Lorillard Tobacco, Monarch Hosiery and retired from Upholstery Prints. Lorraine was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church for 60 plus years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Children’s Director, Senior Citizen’s Director and served in other ministries of the church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and working outside in her yard. Lorraine was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Dove Terrell and husband, Jamey of Chapel Hill; son, Bobby “Ray” Dove, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Graham; grandchildren, Dustin Dove and wife, Maryrose, Cameron Terrell, Carter Terrell and Gabby Terrell; brothers, Billy Carter, Jimmy Carter and Bo Carter and her sister, Debra Reece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; infant sister and 2 infant brothers; sisters-in-law, Sherry Carter, Ruth Carter and a brother-in-law, Johnny Reece.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:30am at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Pastor Walter Jones. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
