Albion - Lorraine A. (Latraverse) Dupont, 88, of Albion, died Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger F. Dupont.
Born in Woonsocket, and raised in Manville, a daughter of the late Horace and Mary (Pontbriand) Latraverse, she had resided in Albion for the past sixty-two years.
Mrs. Dupont worked as an Assembler and Piece Worker for Texas Instruments, and later for A.T. Cross Co., retiring in 1981 to dedicate more time to her primary vocation as a wife and mother.
Lorraine was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith from her youth. Taught by the example of her parents and the Sisters of St. Anne at St. James School in Manville and then St. Anne Academy in Marlborough, MA, they instilled and nurtured in her a lifelong devotion to Jesus and Mary. In her younger days at St. James she enjoyed playing tennis, and was a cheerleader for the basketball team. She loved swimming at Spring Lake in the Summer and ice skating in the Winter. As a mother she loved going sledding with her children, and cheering on the Bruins and the Patriots, especially Ken Hodge and Tom Brady. She loved to travel, to learn about her family history and to pray. A member of the Children of Mary and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin in her youth she would later join prayer groups at St. Agatha's in Woonsocket, where she also participated in Cenacles of the Marian Movement of Priests. Consecrated to Jesus through Mary, and dedicated to the daily recitation of the Rosary, she was known by friends and family alike as a prayer warrior. She prayed incessantly for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone who was in need. In illness and suffering she had an unshakeable and abiding trust in God's merciful love, and a desire to share it with anyone who would listen. A communicant of Saint Ambrose Church, Albion, and Saint James Church, Manville for most of her life, she was assisted in her latter years by the television ministry of EWTN, and by a number of chaplains, deacons, eucharistic ministers and friars who brought her beloved Jesus to her in the Blessed Sacrament. Lorraine's faith and family were her greatest treasure and legacy.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynn A. Boutin and her husband Brian, of Chester, NH; three sons, Mark R. Dupont of Albion, Brian N. Dupont and his wife Christine, of Albion and Glenn M. Dupont of Providence; two grandchildren, Jonah Dupont and his wife Danielle, and Holly Gagne and her husband Chris; three step-grandchildren, Brittany Bemish and her husband Ed, Zachary Boutin and Kaylee Boutin; three great grandchildren, Ella, Mia and Mallory; and two step great grandchildren, Eric and Kayla.
Her funeral will be held Friday, February 13, 2026 at 9:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville.
