Lorraine Lizak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel, Inc. from Jul. 20 to Jul. 22, 2025.
Lorraine Jo Lizak (Lori Jo, Josie, Little Lori), 59 yrs old, passed away suddenly on Thursday July 17, 2025, of a catastrophic brain bleed. She is predeceased by her parents Leonard and Lorraine Lizak. Josie leaves behind 3 sisters: Linda Witt (Jon), Laura Lizak, and Louise Fitzpatrick (Michael) and 2 brothers: Leonard (Barbara) and Louis Lizak. She also leaves behind her partner of more than 10 years, Michael Schorler. Lori Jo was a dear Aunt to Lorraine Witt Antao (Frank), Amy Witt (Carolyn), Leslie Jannusch (Carl), Joey Lizak, Michael, Declan, and Grace Fitzpatrick. She was dear to many cousins, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Lori loved animals and will be sorely missed by her three cats Cosmo, Phoebe, and Allie Lori graduated from Mother Guerin High School and Loyola University College of Business. She was a self-supporting professional woman. She inherited her love of gardening from her mother. Her beautiful home and especially her garden were works of art. Lori loved her friends, neighbors, family, co-workers and pets. She had life-long friends, who called her their angel, and who will miss her dearly. Josie and Mike devotedly brought our widowed Mom Friday dinners and stayed to play games. She took her cats on daily walks so they could enjoy company, exercise, and the beauty of the day. She walked 5 miles every day and said she prayed while she walked Josie was a staunch believer in angels and often shared inspirational quotes. She believed in the marvel and miracles of spirit and acts of kindness. She shared this quote:" Remember whenever you are in the position to help someone, be glad, and always do it because that's God answering someone else's prayers through you." How appropriate that as an organ donor, her final act was to be the angel who answered the prayers of many. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Matz Mt Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 E Rand Rd, Mt Prospect, IL 60056. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 26th, starting at 10:00 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church, 794 Pearson St, Des Plaines, IL 60016. Entombment to follow at St Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714. Please call Matz Mt Prospect Funeral Chapel for further information (847) 394-2336.
