Lorraine N. Love, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Andrews Living Center in Concord.

Lorraine was born September 18, 1931, in Goldsboro, NC, to Fred and Ruth Newsome. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Earl R. Hill and Clarence "Doc" E. Love; sons, Robert Craig Hill and William Douglas Hill; son-in-law, James M. Postell; sister, Catherine N. Morgan; and grandson, Jacob E. Hill.

After completing her high school education, she pursued a career in nursing. She graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing on September 5th, 1952. She furthered her education receiving her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Queens College, and her Master of Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She was employed by Presbyterian until the birth of her first child in 1953. She returned to work in 1964 as a Nursing Instructor at the PHSON. She retired in 1988 after 24 years of service.

She married Earl Robert Hill March 20, 1952, and they were married for 52 years before he passed. They were blessed with two sons and one daughter, 6 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She married Clarence “Doc” E. Love on December 4, 2010. They were married for 7 years until he passed.

She was an avid reader, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting and was an avid walker. The loves of her life were her two Rat Terriers, Shasha and Katie. She had a love for bluebirds, and had several bluebird houses in her back yard. She was a member of the adult choir at University Hills Baptist Church and loved watching Carolina Tar Heel Basketball. She transitioned to St. Andrews Living Center on March 11, 2024 where she was still using her Nursing knowledge to “teach” the staff how to give medicine and properly fold towels.

Survivors include daughter, Susan Hill Postell, of Concord; daughter-in-law, Jeani W. Hill, of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Joy (Jay) Workman of Concord, Brandon Hill of Cornelius, Baily (Donald) Sumrell of Harrisburg, Kelli (David) Brinson of Huntersville, Drew (Julia Grimes) Postell of Concord; niece, Pam Lewis; nephew, Fred Allen Harvell; and several great-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Bo Riley and Rev. Dr. Mike Toney. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park- Harrisburg, Charlotte.
