For our winter getaways my wife and I would often fly to Phoenix. Warm weather and warm friends welcomed us year after year. Lorraine and Wendell always ensured that we felt comfortable in their home, and they made sure that we visited the best restaurants in Phoenix. We shared many fond memories together, remembering how faithfully Lorraine cared for Stella in her waning years, how superbly Wendell grew his fleets of model airplanes and ships, and how privileged they felt to move to their glorious paradise called Arizona. Their love for each other seemed to grow with each anniversary celebration. I admire the way Lorraine managed to find the strength to confront the challenges she faced living alone after Wendell died. My wife and I will sorely miss hearing her cheerful outlook and her old-fashioned wisdom.

Condolences from the Burns family. She'll always be "Aunt Lori" to me. Her and Uncle Wendell were wonderful family friends for 60 years, and many of my early memories were of how much fun they were. Aunt Lori was the perfect match for gruffer Uncle Wendell (his dry humor scared me a bit as a kid, but I learned to love it). She was ALWAYS so sweet and kind. She will be missed.
