Lorraine Roper, 87. passed away March 1, 2026. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Refuge in Kentucky Church, 1716 Prentice Street. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.

Lorraine Roper was born in Brooklyn, New York on January, 24th, 1939 to Ceasar & Minnie McGriff. She was the oldest child of 5 children. Brothers; Russell, Stanley, Tyrone and David McGriff. Lorraine graduated from Prospect Heights High School where she received her diploma. She went onto NYC Community College to become a Lab Technologist. She was a woman that held many positions including a Hair Dresser, a Barber, a Taylor, an NYC Cab driver and a Tax Preparer and many more. Lorraine continued to be a Tax Preparer for more than 60 years. She loved to spend time with her family the most. She loved to travel, fine dining, write books and she loved to served The Lord Jesus Christ. She later moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she joined Refuge In Kentucky and has been a member there for many years.

She was proceeded by parents Ceasar and Minnie McGriff, her brothers Russell, Stanley and Tyrone McGriff, her late Husband William Roper and Claude Key Sr., her children Miller Bradley, Claude Key Jr., Cassandra Key, Ivana Lise Roper and Andrew Cousar-Roper and her grandson Daniel Key Jr.

Lorraine leaves to cherish her memories her children Louise Logan, Lorriellen Alleyne, Linda (husband Heron) Stevens, Shannon Key, Daniel Key, Gregory Cousar-Roper and Desean Roper. Her grandchildren Christina Bradley, Elizabeth Logan, Shanda (husband Vincent) Hobbs, Kaseem Poarch, Shannon Key, Kashawn Key, Ernest Joslin, Damon Key, Malaysia Boyd-Key, Ilesa Key, Gregory Cousar-Roper Jr., Samaria Sarver-Key, Claude Key, Erin Key, Makyah Taylor, Cassandra Key, Davin, Aniyah, Ariana and Zionna Key. Her nieces Adrianne and Shanequa McGriff, great grandchildren Kamya and Khalil Hobbs, Aiden, Ilyane, Ariyah and Na'Ziyah. Along with a host of family and friends.
