Lorraine was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst, NC, and a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, IL. While raising her children, she held many leadership roles in philanthropic organizations. After relocating to Lake Forest, she participated in the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Newcomers, Lake Forest Historic Preservation Foundation and Women's Republican Club. From 1978 to 1994, Lorraine was a Legislative Aide for Illinois State Representative Virginia Fiester Frederick, and from 1985 to1995 she held several positions on the Lake Forest Caucus.
After moving to Pinehurst, she volunteered for many organizations including Newcomers, Garden Club, and the Historic Preservation Foundation. She was Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Northern Moore Family Resource Center and served many terms on the Pinehurst Village Council. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, family and her many friends.
Lorraine is survived by her two children, Dirk (Karen) Tweed of Galena, OH and Jody (Michael) Gullifor of Bloomfield, WI; five grandchildren, Bryan (Sharon) Tweed, Kevin (Chelsea) Tweed, Matthew (Taylor) Tweed, Brandon Gullifor and Kellen (Kateri) Gullifor; and nine great-grandchildren, Connor Tweed, Ella Tweed, Duncan Tweed, Hudson Tweed, Cayden Gullifor, Brody Gullifor, Kieran Gullifor, Kolton Gullifor and Kamden Gullifor.
She was preceded in death in 2017 by her husband of 60 years, Robert.
A Memorial Service for Lorraine will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Community Presbyterian Church in
Pinehurst, NC.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lorraine's honor to Northern Moore Family Resource Center, 116 Horner Street, Robbins, NC 27325.
