Loretta Bannach Obituary
Loretta M. (Cychosz) Bannach, 98, passed away peacefully at San Camillus on Tuesday, November 4th surrounded by her loving family. She was a very kind, patient, and caring person who loved her family deeply. Loretta (Lori) was born on July 22, 1927, in Steven's Point, WI, the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Landowski) Cychosz.
Due to excellent grades, Lori earned a four year scholarship to St. Joseph's Academy in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Her good grades and fast typing skills gave her the opportunity at age sixteen to work at the Pentagon, however because she was so young, she declined the offer. After graduating from the academy in 1945, at age eighteen, she came to Milwaukee to live with her older sister, Irene. She soon got a job at First National Bank, where she was quickly promoted to the credit department, and worked there until she was married.
Lori was full of life and loved dancing in her younger days. On a trip back home for the holidays, Lori and her sister, Sophie, went to a dance at the Armory where she met Alfred Bannach. A year and a half later they were married in Stevens Point. They were married for over sixty years and had three children, James, Mark, and Barbara. They raised their children in Wauwatosa Wisconsin, and resided there for 48 years. From 1967-1982, Lori worked as a realtor selling many area homes but retired once she became a proud grandma.
Lori and Al belonged to St. Joseph's Parish for almost fifty years, where Lori belonged to Christian Mothers, serving the church community and enjoying the fellowship of many. In 1973, they bought a motor home and traveled to visit their two sons in the military. After that, they became seasonal campers at Timber Trails Campground, enjoying laughter around the campfire with friends, overnights with the grandkids, and many family gatherings. Over the years, she also enjoyed playing cards, but her favorite was Rummy 500 with her daughter Barb. Lori also loved painting ceramics and made many beautiful items that her family cherishes to this day.
Lori is survived by sister, Agnes (Dave, deceased) Katzmark, her two children, her son, Mark (Gina) Bannach and her daughter, Barbara (Dan) Grandlich, and her seven grandchildren, Bryan (Panika) Bannach, Lisa (Cristopher) Smith, Alyssa (Andrew) McCombs, Scott (Christa) Bannach, Grant (Samantha) Grandlich, Austin (Stephanie) Grandlich, and Colin Grandlich. Lori is also survived by her sixteen great grandchildren, Lucas Grandlich, Rayna Bannach, Elaina Grandlich, Allison Grandlich, Jacob McCombs, Annie Smith, Ava Bannach, Olivia McCombs, Naiomi Grandlich, Eleanor Smith, Harvey Smith, Zion Grandlich, Holden Bannach, Health Bannach, Fiona Smith, and Indigo Grandlich, who all brought her so much joy.
Lori was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Bannach, her son James Bannach, and her siblings, Irene Omernick, Chester Cychosz, Stanley Cychosz, infant sister Lucy Cychosz, and Sophie Kennedy.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the entire staff at St. Camillus for the exceptional care Lori received during her 15 years there.
A visitation will be held on Friday November 21, 2025 at St. Camillus in the Guardian Angel Chapel from 10:00am until the time Lori's Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Lori will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park at 3 PM. Please meet in the Green Parking Section. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local food pantry in Lori's memory.
