Louis R. "Puff" DeMonte Sr.

1933 - 2022

Louis R. "Puff" DeMonte, Sr., age 89, of Westfield passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his home with family by his side.
Born August 12, 1933 in Dagus Mines, PA, he was the son of the late Ernest and Alice (Betta) DeMonte. Louie proudly served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955 and retired from Consolidated Gas Company.
He married Mary Johanna (Washkaw); sharing 66 years together and raising four children.
Louie was involved in many ventures; he drove truck for Westfield Township, helped with Jacobson's maple syrup and at one time had a free range farm. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, cutting firewood and mowing his yard. In his younger days, he played baseball and was a wonderful catcher. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, River Valley Country Club and American Legion Post #978 in Weedville, PA.
Louie is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; children, Lisa Meachem, Louis and Katie DeMonte, Jr., Ernie and Maryjayne DeMonte and Joe and Deborah DeMonte; grandchildren, Dennis and Michelle Ackley, Tom Ackley, Danielle and Brendan McGaha, Brittney and Drew Cipolla, Emily, Jason, Melissa, Elizabeth, Halie, Kayla, Abigail, Angela, Joey and Desiree and Christian Hage; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Beno DeMonte; sister, Elda Carpin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Cleaver.
Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St. Westfield on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd from 12 – 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ed Siddle officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mt.
