Louie Santos DeVincenzi "Papa" passed away peacefully with is family by his side Tuesday, June 23, 2009 due to a lengthy illness. Louie was born August 21, 1935 in San Francisco to Santos and Jennie DeVincenzi. In 1936, his parents moved to Salinas, where he attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Salinas High School. At a young age, he started working in Monterey at the Warf. In 1954, he married his first wife and the mother of his children, Joyce. In 1955, he started working for kuhlmans Electric after five years there he decided to join his families' janitorial business. In the 1960's he bought a bar called the Horse Shoe Inn. In the 1972, he married his loving wife, Josephine DeVincenzi who has cared for and loved him throughout his illness for the past fifteen years. In 1979, Louie sold the bar and started working for the Monterey Salinas Transit as a bus driver. After working for them for 18 years Louie retired. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his son and friends. He loved going to the Veterans Hall for dances with his fellow bus drivers and wife. He also liked to take trips to Reno with his wife. But most of all he enjoyed having long talks with his daughter and spend time with his family. Louie is preceded in by his father, Santos DeVincenzi and his mother, Jennie Belleci.Louie leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Josephine DeVincenzi of Salinas; his son, James DeVincenzi of Salinas; his daughter, Debbie (Refugio) Segura of Salinas; grandson, Anthony Segura, Matthew Segura, Joseph Segura; granddaughter, Cristina Segura all of Salinas.Visitation will be held at 1:00 to 5:00pm on Friday, June 26, 2009 at Struve & Laporte Chapel, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas. CA 93901.Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Struve & Laporte Chapel.Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA 93901.
