Louis J. "Lou" Furano

Louis "Lou" J. Furano, passed away December 25, 2025 at his residence. Lou was born on July 19,1931 in Washington, PA, a son of the late Louis J and Anna M. Furano Sr. Lou moved to Warren, Ohio in July of 1943. He was a graduate of Warren St. Mary's Catholic High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University with a degree in law. Lou applied his education working as an Assistant Trust Officer in banking. Prior to working at the bank Lou worked with the U.S. Treasury Department as a Trust Examiner. Lou also worked for the Auditor of the State of Ohio. Lou was very active in Community Service. He served as an Officer in the following organizations: The Mahoning-Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council; the Warren Metropolitan Area Association; the Warren Exchange Club; Family Service Association; the Warren Chamber of Commerce; and the former Warren General Hospital Association. Lou was a dedicated member of the following organizations: St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warren where he was a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server, Leader of Prayer and pastoral care at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. In addition, Lou was an active member of the Warren Italian Festival; Sons of Italy Lodge 806; Mahoning Valley Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame which he was named as Man-of-the-Year; Knights of Columbus Council 620; and Pony League Baseball. Lou is survived by his step-children Kathleen (Max) Senkinc, William (Nancy) Sonson, Corrine (George) Linck, and Tammara (Lonnie) Baker, twelve step-grandchildren Vincent Joseph (Summer) Sonson, Faith (Shane) Sonson-Morris, Karie Lynn (Joe) Kovacocy, Matthew (Nicole) Senkinc, Eric Sonson, Christina (Michael) Salapata, Tyler (Terri) Linck, Jordan (Shannon) Linck, Preston Linck, Bryceton (Katie) Baker, Brennen Baker, and Breann Celeste (Joseph) Womack, and 18 step- great-grandchildren. Lou is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Celeste A. Sonson-Furano, and his step-son Robert Joseph Sonson. Family and friends may pay their respects to Lou on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:25 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren where a prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - St. Mary's Church 232 Seneca Street Warren with Father Edward Staford as celebrant. Following the mass, Lou will be entombment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2900 Washington Road Canonsburg, PA 15317.
