Louis F. Hoerr

Louis F. Hoerr, 91, of Taylor, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2026.
Louis was born on January 12, 1934, to John and Rose (Frieden) Hoerr of Taylor, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Ruth Caroline (Massner) Hoerr on February 22, 1959, the love of his life. Together, they farmed and were deeply involved in the Taylor community.
Survivors include his children: Rachelle Hoerr of Taylor, MO; Louanne (Greg) Umland of Carlock, IL; Julie (Ryan) Hedges of Brentwood, MO; and daughter-in-law Amy Hoerr of Palmyra, MO.
Louis dearly loved his grandchildren, who loved and adored him in return: Luke (Jill) Hoerr; Taylor (Whitney) Umland; Levi Umland; Hunter (Karly) Umland; Jessica (David) Gist; Mac (Katie) Hoerr; Mark (Kayla) Hoerr; and Caroline Hedges. He was also blessed with two very special foster grandsons, Junior and Dennis Smith.
He took great joy in his great-grandchildren: Remmington, Coleton, Kimber, and Barrett Hoerr; Jaxson Crawley; Apphia Umland; Maverick and Lakelynn Umland; Ethan Nottage, Magnus York, Wednesday, David, and Gwendolyn Gist; Noralynn, Bernard, and Finnley Hoerr; and Marlee Hoerr.
Louis is also survived by his siblings: Don (Elaine) Hoerr of Taylor, MO, and Cindy (Robert) DeSigne of Metamora, IL.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth, his son Douglas, and his siblings Barbara Plank, Robert Hoerr, Irene Riney, Rosie Massner, and Wayne Hoerr.
Louis proudly served in the United States Army and enjoyed sharing stories of his travels during his service. He loved farm life and was actively involved in Marion County 4-H during the years his children participated. He loved and served our Lord Jesus and was a devoted member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Taylor, Louis was always quick to volunteer in times of need. He was dedicated to the Marion County Food Pantry, making many trips over the years to the Midwest Food Bank in Peoria to ensure the local pantry remained well stocked for the community.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Center in Taylor, MO, and from 9:00 –10:00 am, Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Taylor, MO. Services will begin at 10:00 am, Monday at the church. Full Military Honors performed by Boots Dickson Post #174 of the American Legion will follow services.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Memorial donations may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church, the Palmyra Area Food Pantry, or Great River Honor Flight.
