Louis "Lou" Meier, 83, of Asbury, died Friday, March 27, 2026, at Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 9:30 until 10:15 am prior to the Mass at Church of the Resurrection.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Louis will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West.

Louis was born June 22, 1942, in Bellevue, IA, the son of Harold and Florence (Kilburg) Meier. On October 30, 1971, he married Donna M. Busch at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI.

He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1965, and was a furniture designer for 42 years.

Lou was a member of Church of the Resurrection and the Dubuque Fly Fishers Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying skiing and camping. He also had a passion for painting and was known for his talent and creativity.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Meier; three sons, Eric (Sarah) Meier of Chanhassen, MN, Andrew (Tami) Meier of Stevens Point, WI, and Alex Meier of Cedar Rapids, IA; six grandchildren, Zachary, Madeline, Lauren, Bryson, Katelyn, Eleanor; and siblings-in-law, Glenn (Sandy) Busch of Freeport, IL, Marie (Tony) Timmerman of Dickeyville, WI, Jane (Tom) Murphy of Montgomery, AL, Tom (Kerry) Busch of Milwaukee, WI, Jim (Mary Sue) Busch of LaCrescent, MN, Rick (Angel) Busch of Gays Mills, WI, and Cathy (Tom) Marty of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Linda (Rick) Kramer.

Lou's family would like to extend a thank you to Hawkeye Care Center, Hospice of Dubuque, and his good friends, Jim and Chris Vosberg for their care and support.
