Louis Petrarca

Louis Anthony Petrarca, age 75, passed away in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 17, 2025. He was born on February 25, 1950, in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of the late Anthony and Nilda (Castellucci) Petrarca.

Louis attended La Salle Academy in Providence before enlisting in the United States Army in October 1968. He served with honor during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne Infantry Division and worked with the 75th Rangers Regiment. His bravery and dedication were recognized through numerous commendations, including the Soldier's Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) for his service in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in July 1970.

After returning home, Louis pursued new talents and opportunities. He graduated from the Arthur Angelo School of Hair Design in Providence and later opened Louis Hair Studio in Seekonk, Massachusetts, where he built a loyal clientele and lifelong friendships. His entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to own and manage a landscape architecture business with his wife Michelle.

Louis' greatest happiness came from the life he built with his beloved wife, Michelle M. Petrarca over the past 24 years. They began their life together in Saunderstown, Rhode Island before settling in St. Augustine, Florida in 2008. When Louis married Michelle, he also became a devoted stepfather to her sons, Jason and Matthew Farhadi. He loved spending quality time with his wife and sons.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his stepsons, Jason and Matthew; his brothers, Joseph and John Petrarca; and many friends who loved and respected him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 21st at 2:30 p.m. at Creekside Christian Church, 150 Lifespring Way St. Johns, FL 32259.
