Louise Cascione Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care - Zionsville on Oct. 8, 2025.
Louise Adele (née Smith) Cascione was born to Harry DeQuincey Smith and Louise Adele (née Ischer) Smith in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on August 5,1923. She was called to her Heavenly home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 12, 2025, in Naples, Florida. Louise was confirmed in a Missouri Synod Lutheran church in Covington, Kentucky, at age 13. She married Jerome John Cascione on April 6, 1946 in Valparaiso, Indiana. Louise was widowed on December 21, 2010.
Louise graduated in 1942 as Salutatorian from International Baccalaureate Holmes High School in Covington with a senior class of more than 200 students. She received a citation from the government for her work as a torpedo detonator inspector. Upon graduation, Louise was awarded a scholarship to Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, where she earned a degree in Zoology in 1946, with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. In her senior year she met Jerome John Cascione, who was attending Valparaiso University on the G.I. Bill. The newly wedded couple moved to Brooklyn, New York, where Louise worked as a chemist for the Bond Bread Company. Jerome held various occupations until his employment with the Allstate Insurance Company in 1953, a position he held until retirement at age 68. As the Cascione family grew, they moved from Brooklyn to Ridgewood Queens and then to Queens Village. After retirement Louise and Jerome moved from Wantagh, New York to Fishers, Indiana and then Carmel, Indiana, near their son Philip and his family. Louise was active in her Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation as a Sunday School teacher and volunteer. The Lord blessed her with 101 years of life and blessings beyond measure. She now rejoices with her God and Savior and all the heavenly host. She is survived by five children: Jack (Virginia), Anne Betz, Carl (Silvia), Donna (Dan) Bancroft, and Philip (Sheryl); thirteen grandchildren: Faye, Jerome, Julia, Andrew, John, Carolyn, Steven, David, Dalton, David, Andrea, Stephanie, and Miranda, and 21 great- grandchildren: Alaina, Mark, Michael, Saara, Jonas, Michael, Nora, Sabrina, Sean, Katherine, Selah, Everly, Natalie, Alexandra, Katherine, Dalton, Cateno, Michael, Evyenia, Jason, and Cecilia. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Harry and Guy, sister Calla, son-in-law John Betz, and infant granddaughter, Joanne.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 15605 Ditch Rd., Westfield, Indiana. The committal service will be at 2:30 pm at Zionsville Cemetery. Visitation for family members will begin at 10 am; friends of the family are welcome to visit from 11 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, Zionsville.
