Louise (Lou) Murray Flannery, of Barrington Hills, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in Fall River, MA, Lou grew up in Bristol, RI, and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Education, where she met her love of 51 years, James Flannery, while playing the lead in a musical he was directing at Providence College. Lou is survived by her brother, Ken Murray, and was beyond proud of her family including her five children, James Flannery, Jr. (Cindy), Kathy Merkhofer (Johann), Chris Flannery, Beth Flannery-Hughes (Don), and Kevin Flannery (Danielle), 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She cherished every single chaotic Sunday family dinner at 100 Brinker.

Lou was an Olympic-trained swimmer, an avid tennis player, and a lover of music, animals, and gardening. Besides her amazing dedication to family, her greatest passion was world travel. Lou leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, and her spirit will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and those fortunate to know her. Rest in peace – forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be from 9am until the funeral mass at 11am Saturday, September 14 at St. Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Barrington Area Conservation Trust.
