Louise Marie Jacott

Louise Marie Jacott, fondly known as “Weezy'' by those who knew and loved her, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at the age of 62 years young at her home in Omaha, Nebraska after a long battle with her health.

Remembered as thoughtful, determined, and one of the most welcoming people you will ever meet, Louise fought until the very end to spend as much time as she could with the one thing she cared for most in this world: her family. 

Louise was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 20th, 1960 as the oldest of three children to John and Doreen Eagleton. She graduated in the class of 1979 from Wayzata High School then went on to take college courses at the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she played volleyball and discovered a love for photography–a passion that would come in handy later in life as she captured precious moments of her family in countless scrapbooks and other craft projects. 

Soon after she met the love of her life, Gary Jacott. They wed on June 27th, 1987 and raised two sons, Matthew and Travis, as they built their life from the Duluth area to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, then Papillion, Nebraska, and eventually settled in the Omaha area. As a self-proclaimed “tom boy” who loved being active, Louise along with Gary made sure their children were involved in hockey, wrestling, baseball, and football and enjoyed hosting and traveling with their teams.

Louise’s natural hosting abilities stemmed from her experiences waitressing at Duluth-area restaurants Top of the Harbor and Grandma’s during her young adult life. Later on she would spend many years slinging infamous tortes and serving her regular customers at Lithuanian Bakery in Omaha. 

She truly believed in “the more, the merrier'' and had a gift for bringing people together and making them feel special and welcome. Many who know her can attest to her knack for not only remembering people’s favorite things, but going out of her way to provide them.

Later in life Louise found solace in crafts like painting and jewelry-making as her health impacted her ability to stay active. Despite losing her mobility, Louise never lost her spark and would always find a way to participate in activities with her family and grandchildren. She loved summertime, being in the sun, and especially looked forward to her family’s annual Fourth of July cabin trip to Cranberry Lake in Gordon, Wisconsin–her happy place.

Louise is survived by her parents, John and Doreen Eagleton, her brother Michael Eagleton, sister Dana Appleby and her husband Don, husband Gary Jacott, sons Matthew and Travis Jacott and their wives Kylie and Janna (respectively), grandchildren Faith, Lucas and Baby Jacott, nieces Briannah Medieros and her husband Mike, Rachel Eagleton, Grace Jacott, Rose O’Leary, and Kaley Appleby, nephews Colin Jacott and Donald Jr. (DJ) Appleby, and several cousins.

Although her time on this earth was far too short, she lived it as fully as possible and encouraged those around her to do the same.

A memorial service to remember Louise will be held at Roeder Mortuary at 2727 N 108th Street Omaha, NE 68164 on Friday, March 31st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m to be followed by a memorial ceremony led by family pastor Kari Jacott from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made in Louise’s name to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
