Louise Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herson Wagner Funeral Home - Ithaca on Aug. 30, 2022.
Mrs. Louise Jones peacefully transitioned on August 26, 2022, in her home at the age of 90. She was born on July 9, 1932, to the late Beatrice Bailey and Woodson Williams in Troy, Ohio.
Mrs. Jones was united in holy matrimony to the late Bobby Jones, Sr. To this union three children were born. Louise Jones was a long-time devoted member of St, James AME Zion Church for over sixty (60) years. Mrs. Jones was a dedicated member of the Usher board for more than fifty (50) years and served as Usher Board President for forty (40) years.
Mrs. Jones was known and well respected for her exceptional care of children. She served as a daycare provider for many young people. Parents trusted her with the care of their precious children and Mrs. Jones loved them like they were her own. Parents could go to work and school with the comfort of knowing that their child was well cared for by Mrs. Jones.
Mrs. Jones home saw many family members, friends and visitors walk through her Green Street doorstep. When you visited Mrs. Jones, there was always someone from the neighborhood sitting on the porch with her or at the kitchen table. All were welcome and had an enjoyable time. Mrs. Jones had an infectious smile and a unique laugh. She loved playing cards, especially Bid Whist. If there was trash talk at the game Mrs. Jones would cut her eye and everybody knew better. Mrs. Jones was known for her love of baking and her delicious Sock It To Me and Pineapple Upside Down cakes. She was loved by many and most notable was her special friendship with Marlene Mo Hagood who was like the mailman; rain, sleet or snow, she came faithfully every day to visit Mrs. Jones. Her Godson Dale Cooper was also forever faithful, always making sure to stop by and drop off goodies to eat, especially one of her favorites strawberry cheesecake. Mrs. Jones will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The corner of Green St and Plain will never be the same.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by Bobby N. Jones, Sr. (husband), Beatrice Bailey (mother), Woodson Williams (father), Carolyn McCoy (sister), Berniece Williams (sister), Ronald Ross (brother), Tommy Ross (brother) and Eva Ross (sister).
Mrs. Louise Jones leaves to cherish her memories three (3) children, Bobby N. Jones, Jr. (Patricia), Barbara I. Jones and Alicia L. Speller, six (6) grandchildren, eight (8) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Dear Jones Family,

Please know that you have my sincerest condolences on your mother's transition.

Her life was full and she touched many on her journey.

As the obituary stated, the corner where she lived will never be the same but the memory of her there will last forever.

May God's grace sustain you at this time.

Blessings,
Carolyn Watkins
