Louise Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory - Statesboro on Mar. 29, 2026.
Mrs. Louise Lee, age 96, passed away Friday, March 27th, 2026, at Ogeechee Area Hospice.

She was the last surviving sibling of ten children born to Henry and Virginia Stokes. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James E. Lee, Sr. and a grandson, James E. Lee III.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter: James E. Lee, Jr., Tony Lee, Jim Lee (Rinda), and Shalah Lee Kangeter (Edward). She also has seven grandchildren: Crystal Campbell, Jordon Lee, Tracy Applebee, B.J. Wheeles (Katie), Allyson Lee, Gina Lee and Casi Arena (John) and five great grandchildren: Caden Applebee, Navee Applebee, Mason Wheeles, Holly Campbell and Emily Arena.

Mrs. Lee was employed by the Bulloch Memorial Hospital for over 20 years until she retired. After her husband passed in August 2000, she decided to go back to work. She was employed by Winn Dixie Supermarket where she learned to create beautiful flower arrangements.

In 2004, she joined the Bryan County Senior Citizens Center in Pembroke where she worked for over 15 years. The members welcomed her into their group, and she made many good friends. The group enjoyed daily lunches, day trips, and parties on holidays and special occasions.

She was a great cook and loved to have her children and grandchildren for family meals. After family dinners, the family would gather to play games. Her favorite game to play was Bingo. She loved going on weekend trips and tending to her plants and flowers. Another beloved hobby was feeding and watching the birds.

Attendants will be Mrs. Lee's grandchildren, Katie Wheeles, John Arena, and Steven Morris.

Services will be held at Lawrence Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, with Pastor Albert Hodges officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 am and the service will take place at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Pembroke Senior Citizens Center. All donations can be mailed to: The Bryan County Commissioners Office / Senior Citizens Fund, PO Box 430, Pembroke, Ga 31321.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all staff members of Ogeechee Area Hospice for their dedication, care, and compassion given to our mother.
