Louise Ann (Mitchell) McLaughlin was born on May 21st, 1938 to Wilma (Fannan) Mitchell and James S. Mitchell in Rockford, IL.
Married to Lawrence R. McLaughlin on May 29, 1963.
Louise was a musician; she played the stand up bass and the piano. She loved her family, friends, the Moose Club, playing dominoes, puzzles and mispronouncing words. But even when she did that, she laughed at herself, even if she didn't know why because it brought joy to others. One of her bucket list items was playing in a pile of leaves which she did joyfully, beautifully. Just like her. When it came time to leave this world, she was surrounded by her three children, which would have made her feel like a rich person. She was fortunate to have many great friends in her life. Special thanks to Mary Milanos, Donna Couden Trimm, Dale Gray, M.D. and Northern Illinois Hospice, for helping so much in the last months of her life.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Holly) McLaughlin, Kathleen (Rick) Hoppe, and Mary Ann (Brian) Akey; grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel) McLaughlin, Megan (Aurora) Trimm, Catie (Darron) Burke, Christopher (Christi) Hoppe, Stephen Hoppe, Emily Hoppe, Sarah (Alex) Savage, Annie Hoppe, Tim Hoppe, Amelia Hoppe, Claire Hoppe, and Alex (Leslie) Akey; great grandchildren, Oliver, Heidi, Sylvia, Riley, Eliza, Owen, Nora,Olivia and another blessing on the way this coming year; and her sisters, Linda (Roy) Lawniczak, and Helen (Fred) Melin; and special friend Ray Carpenter. Preceded in death by her husband Larry, son Michael and her parents.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 9 from 10 AM until time of service at 12 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Mulford Road. Burial will be at Cavalry Cemetery. Luncheon at Stockholm at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Northern IL Hospice. Share online memories and condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
