Louise Pluschkell died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday afternoon, May 14th, 2025 with her family in attendance. Louise was born December 15th, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to Oscar and Rose Pluschkell (nee Kaldizar), now deceased. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers James Pluschkell and Edward Pluschkell, as well as her great friend Barbara Seboda. While in high school in Baltimore, she went to work for Westinghouse Defense Corporation in 1949, as part of a work study program for inner city students. She was hired as a secretary when she graduated. While working at Westinghouse as a secretary, she attended night school for ten years to earn first a Bachelor's degree from Loyola University and then a Masters degree in Human Resources Management from Johns Hopkins University. Louise was promoted from secretary to Employee Benefits manager for 17,000 employees, then to Wage and Salary auditing of jobs of two unions, and finally to Human Resources Manager of the Robotic Division at Westinghouse. After her retirement from Westinghouse in 1992, Louise continued her love of learning by joining the Evergreen Society for Continuing Studies for Retirees, which is now known as Osher. Louise took online and in person classes several times a week in a wide ranging variety of subjects, including Japanese history, politics and foreign affairs, art, literature, film and music. She also enjoyed traveling to Europe and the United States. She is survived by her great niece Laura Long and Laura's husband Wayne Long of Glen Burnie, great-great nephew Christopher Long of Hanover, PA, and great great nephew Nicolas Long, his wife Amanda Long, and their son Asher Long of Glen Burnie.
