Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts & Sons Funeral Home - Foxborough on Oct. 25, 2025.
Louise C. Poirier, age 84, died peacefully on October 22, 2025 in Pembroke, MA, where she lived for the past two years after residing in Foxboro for more than 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Adelard and Alice (Parenteau) Lamontagne.
Louise was born on December 2, 1940 in Fall River, MA, where she was raised. She began her working years at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where she was a 1961 graduate of the hospital's nursing school. Louise later moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where she married Robert, who was stationed there as an officer in the U.S. Army. While in Germany, they gave birth to their first two of four children, twins Michael and Marc.
Upon returning to the States, Louise and Robert settled in Massachusetts and Louise continued to work as a registered nurse. She later earned a B.A. degree in psychology from Bridgewater State College, receiving the Elizabeth Hollis Award, an honor given to the outstanding graduate in that major. Louise also attended Rhode Island School of Design, where she refined her creative abilities as an artist, including painting, sketching and design. Later in her career, Louise was a leading real estate agent for more than 20 years in the Foxboro area. She also volunteered in the community as a member of the Jaycees organization and at the State Hospital in town.
Louise loved to entertain, hosting many festive holiday and other parties for family and friends. The closeness of family was paramount to Louise, and she relished being able to bring family together through her cooking and hosting. She was a talented cook who equally enjoyed preparing traditional recipes passed down by generations and experimenting with her own creations. She also had an appreciation for music and enjoyed singing with friends and family.
Louise was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Of all her achievements, she was most proud of her and Robert's raising of their four sons. Spending precious time with her six grandchildren gave her tremendous joy in the more recent years of her life. She will be remembered by all in her life for her adoring smile, unbounded generosity, and her warm, loving soul.
Loving wife of the late Robert Poirier for more than 60 years. Beloved mother of Michael Poirier of Boston, Marc Poirier and his wife Gina of North Andover, Matthew Poirier and his wife Kimberly of Hanover, and Martin Poirier and his wife Jennifer of Walpole. Devoted grandmother of Brian, Michelle, Boden, Dylan, Katherine, and Abigail. Sister of Pauline Messier and her late husband Charles of Westport.
