Louise Scheelk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Appleton on Jan. 2, 2026.
Our beloved wife and mother, Louise Karen (Zeatlow) Scheelk, 72, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on 12/31/2025. She passed away from cancer.

Louise was born on November 13, 1953, in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Lester Harris Zeatlow and Margaret Florence (Williams) Zeatlow. She was baptized on January 17, 1954, at Raymond Methodist Church in Wautoma, WI. Louise married her high school sweetheart, David L. Scheelk, on October 6, 1973, at Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma, WI. Soon after, she was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

Louise attended Fox Valley Technical College after high school for a one-year Clerk Typist course. She loved the variety of general office work. After she married Dave, they moved to Norfolk, VA where he was stationed in the Navy. She worked for Sterling Supply Corporation in Norfolk. They moved back to Wisconsin in 1976, and her places of employment included Fox Valley Builders Exchange, L&S Electric, and she retired from Rawhide in May of 2017.

Louise loved to quilt, enjoyed camping, playing the clarinet in the Eternal Love's Praise band, singing in the choir, was a member of TOPS, Inc. as their weight recorder, and going for coffee (tea for her) with many dear friends. She found immense joy in the relationships she gained through each of these activities. She loved you all.

As a woman of deep Christian conviction, we all learned from her to put Jesus first. Her quiet strength, compassionate spirit, kindness, and humble service to others are lessons we will carry on. We will cry tears for our loss but sing praises, for we know with certainty we will see her again. Thank you, Jesus!

Louise is survived by her husband, David; two children, Matthew (Heather) Scheelk, Appleton and Rae (Marc) Scherschel, Appleton; three grandchildren: Alexis Scherschel, Milwaukee, Anya Scherschel, Appleton, and Archer Scheelk, Appleton; a sister, Barbara Zeatlow, Appleton, and many cousins and dear friends.

To Louise's loved ones and friends, she wishes to say: "this is not good-bye, it's an, "I love you," to take with you until we meet again.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Eternal Love Lutheran Church, 1011 Midway Road, Appleton. Friends may visit at the church from 9:30 am till 10:45 am. The service will take place at 11 am, with lunch to follow.

Interment will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Wautoma, Wi

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

I´m already missing my dear friend, Louise. We shared so many things together; having coffee/tea, gardening, feeding the backyard birds, and just real friendship. My heart is hurting but I know it will get better with time. Until we meet again. Love you, PJ

Hi Louise, I remember when I first met you. It was about a month after I joined TOPS and you returned to be our Weight Recorder. I was a little nervous at first because you were new (to me) and I didn´t know what you´d say when I gained weight for the week. What a silly worry - clearly, I didn´t know you, yet! Not long after that, I began to see what an amazing and loving person you were and I was so happy to know you! In fact, you became one of my favorites (but don´t say anything about that) and I looked forward to seeing you every week.
Well, Louise, this has become long and I know you´re getting tired. Take a nap and I´ll see you later!
Love you, Karen
