Louise Ann Modolo Trocino, 89, of Mount Dora, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Florida. She was born on December 4, 1934, in Gary, Indiana, to Fiori and Bruna Bianchi Modolo. Louise and her husband, Nat Trocino, made Mount Dora their home in 1995 after relocating from Portage, Indiana, to become loving grandparents. They were married for 47 years before she was widowed. A trailblazer in healthcare, Louise founded the EMT and Paramedic Program in Gary, Indiana, and stood among the first family nurse practitioners of her era. She was a certified diabetes educator, committed to enhancing healthcare access and quality. Louise's dedication to community service shone brightly as she served as the Mistress of Ceremony for Women of Hospice. Her humor, wit, and joy, often shared through her jokes, uplifted many and raised funding for hospice care. Louise was a cherished member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mount Dora. She was deeply involved in her community, serving as a former Queen in the Red Hat Society and affectionately known as the "Mayor" of the Laurel Ridge area of the Country Club of Mount Dora. A lover of arts, culture, and dance, she was also an active member of the Mount Dora Women's Committee of Fine Arts. Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her family: her daughter, Linda, and four sons, Mark, Michael, Charles, and Craig; her four grandchildren, Isabella, Joseph, Gianna, and Mitchell; her sister, Clara Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews. Louise was a loving mother, a devoted wife, an exemplary nurse, a beloved grandmother, and a cherished friend to everyone. Her essence, characterized by love, humility, and service, leaves an indelible mark on those who knew her. Her smile was infectious, and her blue eyes dazzling. She will be profoundly missed and affectionately remembered for the joy and love she gave to everyone. Whenever you sip a glass of Chardonnay, catch the scent of Calvin Klein Obsession perfume, hear a raunchy joke, or experience profound love, know that Louise's spirit is joyfully among us. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Louise's life will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, 218 Ocklawaha Ave, Eustis, Florida, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Women for Hospice, P.O. Box 1741, Mount Dora, FL 32756.
