Louise Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home & Crematory - DeLand on Sep. 10, 2025.
Louise E. (Guess) Ward, a lifelong resident of Pierson, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on August 12, 1929, to Allen Edward Guess and Aline Peterson Guess, Louise was the last surviving of her six siblings.

A devoted member of Emporia Baptist Church throughout her life, Louise found joy in simple pleasures: gardening (especially flowers), solving crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune (and knowing all the answers), and, most of all, spending time with her family.

One of her fondest traditions was gathering with family on Sundays after church for cookouts by the lake, moments filled with laughter, love, and togetherness.

Louise is survived by her children: J.A. Ward, Walter Ward (Eileen), Donnie Ward, Ronnie Ward (Patricia), and Bonnie Clark; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Jesse Walter Ward, with whom she is now reunited.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Emporia Baptist Church, 403 Emporia Rd, Pierson, FL 32180. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a committal service at Oakdale Emporia Cemetery.

A reception will be held immediately following the burial back at the church. All are welcome to join the family for food and fellowship as they celebrate Louise's life.
