Loy Yount, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, in Bowling Green, Missouri, at the age of 85. Born on June 24, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, Loy brought joy and love to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A passionate golfer and avid fisherman, Loy found solace in the great outdoors, often spending his days enjoying nature’s beauty. His competitive spirit flourished in various activities, whether it was perfecting his golf swing, casting a line into the water, or engaging in friendly matches at the pool table. Loy also loved to immerse himself in video games, delighting in the laughter and camaraderie they brought to his gatherings with family and friends.
Those who knew Loy recall a man whose greatest joy was found in his family. He was a wonderful grandfather, cherished by his 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in his heart. His legacy of love will undoubtedly echo through the lives of each family member as they carry forward the lessons he imparted and the memories they created together.
Loy leaves behind his loving wife, Gloria Yount, who stood by his side through life’s many adventures. He is also survived by his children: Tony Yount, Linda Martin, Sherry Mills, and Theresa Kraml, as well as bonus sons Richard and Steven Capehart, and Gary Capehart. He is further mourned by his dear sister, Laverne Hulett.
Loy’s departure is deeply felt by those who also remember his parents, Hazel and Loy Yount, and his sons Michael and Thomas Yount, along with his bonus daughters, Sandra Kennedy and Lisa Semar, who have preceded him in death.
As we celebrate Loy Yount's life, we are reminded of the warmth he brought into each moment shared with family and friends. His spirit will forever remain a part of the hearts he touched, and his joyful legacy will continue to inspire love and laughter for generations to come.
