Mr. Winfred May, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away on Monday – March 9, 2026.

He was born on March 22, 1938, in Tullahoma, Tennessee to the late Loyce May and Uldine Overman May. Winfred was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and later attended Southern Technical College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He married his wife, and his best friend, of 46 years, Frances Griner May, who survives in Thomasville. He worked for many years as a Boiler Engineer for Cleaver Brooks until retiring, and later went to work for Hurst Boiler. He enjoyed many years singing in the choir at the 1st Baptist Church, later moving to Dawson Street Baptist Church, and was active with the Gideons. He also loved traveling, playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Griner May of Thomasville, GA; son, Kevin May (Dawn) of Portal, GA; stepson, Kyle Morris (Lenda) of Cornelia, GA; and several grandchildren: Cameron, Brandon, Brice, Heather, Nathan, Merideth, and Sarah, sisters-in-law, Susie O'Quinn and Joyce Griner, adopted in-laws, Mike and Mary Morris, and Ron Morris, along with many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; a daughter, Teresa Strickland; and a stepson, Mark Morris.

Funeral Services will be held at Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home on Saturday - March 14, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Lee Waller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. A private interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
