Funeral service for Loyd Harris “L.H.” Chapin, age 89, of Cumby, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Craig Buck officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cumby, Texas with Ken Chapin, Wil Chapin, Jacob Simonek, Aden Stiltner, Jason Charbonnet, and John Costanza serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Smith. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Chapin passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Loyd Harris Chapin (known as L.H.) was born on July 12, 1935 in Overland, Texas to Loyd and Ruby (Harris) Chapin. L.H. worked at Trinity Industries for 47 years as a Steel Inspector. He was a member of the Brashear Baptist Church.
L.H. is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Sue Petta and husband Ray of Fort Worth, Texas; son, William Kenneth Chapin and wife JoAnn of Cumby, Texas; grandchildren, Paige Charbonnet, Erin Novak, Christina Costanza, Rachel Chapin, April Chapin, Jacob Simonek, Wil Chapin, Ken Chapin; and great-grandchildren, Aden Stiltner, Knox Charbonnet, Grier Charbonnet, Frank Costanza, Charlotte Morgan, Beatrice Novak, Adeline Novak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Ruby Chapin; four brothers; one sister; and great-grandchild, Michael David Morgan.
