Loyd Leon St John

Loyd L. St. John passed away on March 14, 2026, after nearly 65 years of doing exactly what he wanted, when he wanted, and arguing with anyone who suggested otherwise.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Jean St. John and Billy Joe St. John; his brother Eddie St. John; and his nephew Kyler St. John—who have now, no doubt, resumed long-standing debates with him on the other side.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy St. John; his children, Thomas St. John and Stephanie St. John; his grandson, Aiden St. John; and his brothers, Troy and Stanley St. John and sister, Angela Przilas. They carry forward a lifetime of stories—some impressive, some questionable, all undeniably his.

Loyd was an FAA-certified A&P mechanic, aviation inspector, and DART-certified professional who worked with LTV Vought Aircraft Company, American Eurocopter, Southern Rotorcraft, and Innovation First International. He was, by all accounts, exceptionally skilled with his hands and could fix just about anything—whether you asked him to or not.

He loved working on machines, showing his dog Kandi, riding and training horses, and spending time with his many cats. He appreciated the peace and quiet of his property—when he wasn’t personally disrupting it.

Loyd was stubborn, outspoken, and about as subtle as a bagpipe in a quiet room. He rarely softened an opinion and never backed away from an argument worth having—or even one that wasn’t. Life with him could be difficult, loud, and occasionally exhausting, but it was never boring.

Whether you loved him, argued with him, or did a bit of both, you likely have at least one story you’ll be telling for the rest of your life.

And if there is an afterlife, it’s safe to assume someone there has already been informed exactly how things ought to be done.
