In an informal conversation with an ex Brooks AFB friend, I discovered this morning the passing of Gen. Schafer. My condolences to the family. I met the Gen. a few times at Brooks AFB and Wilford Hall. He was a gentleman and genuinely friendly. His son and I were with the 903 Air Evac unit in Vietnam. I used to play handball against Jeff and was soundly beaten every time and never felt defeated since he was a super strong guy and skilled player! He never bragged and made our game a time to relax and relief stress from the never ending drama of our unit.
