Luby Wells Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Dec. 10, 2025.
Luby Ronnie Wells, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. Born in Wayne County on December 16, 1942, Ronnie was the son of the late Marvin Willard Wells and Wilma Lee Hines Wells. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Wells and Graham Wells, and his sister, Luann Wells.
Ronnie spent many dedicated years with CP&L, where he worked in substation maintenance and played a key role in constructing numerous substations across North Carolina. He took great pride in his work, and even long after retirement, he delighted in pointing out the many substations he helped build. When riding around with family, he loved sharing stories from those years-a career that truly fulfilled him.
A proud and hardworking man, Ronnie established Oakleaf Estates, a mobile home park he developed on his land in the Rosewood community. He cared deeply for the people who lived there and worked tirelessly to maintain a safe and welcoming place for tenants over the years.
Ronnie was a faithful member of Rosewood First Baptist Church, where he found joy in worship and serving in ministry. Above all, his family held his heart. Known affectionately as "Pa," he treasured being a father and grandfather. His daughters were his pride, and when his grandchildren came along, they became the light of his life. Ronnie never missed an opportunity to support them-whether at ballgames, dance recitals, or scouting events-his presence was a constant source of love and encouragement.
Deeply rooted in the Rosewood Community, Ronnie cherished his friends and often said that Rosewood was "God's Country." He enjoyed spending time in his shop, always working on something with his hands or riding his tractor. His work ethic was unmatched, and he found purpose in staying busy and helping others. Summers at Kerr Lake became treasured family traditions, where Ronnie could be found on his boat, pulling his children, grandchildren, and countless Rosewood friends across the water-always ensuring everyone had a good time.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church. A service celebrating Ronnie's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Timothy D. Lipp and Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment will take place at Princeton Cemetery.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Glenda Jones Wells; his daughters, Kelly Renee Wells and husband, Chad Weisser, and Rhonda Wells Greenup and husband, Cliff; and his cherished grandchildren: Daniel, Payne, Harper, Addison, Sam, Joshua, Jaxson, and Joyanna. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Betty C. Wells and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice in Goldsboro for their compassionate care, which allowed Ronnie to remain comfortable at home. They also wish to thank the medical team at SMOC and UNC Chapel Hill Cancer Center for their commitment and kindness throughout Ronnie's fight with leukemia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ronnie's honor to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
