Lucia Wendler

1937 - 2025

Bozeman, MT - Lucia Wendler, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in Albany, New York surrounded by her beloved family. She was born October 4, 1937 in Eritrea, Ethiopia. On May 24,1959 she married Howard Wendler and moved to the United States. Originally living on the Belleayre Fire Tower and later moving to Rockland County, NY. Lucia embraced her new life. In 1969, she and Howard moved to Marbletown, NY where they lived and raised their 3 daughters, Prior to moving to Bozeman in 1994. Lucia retired from the former Ashokan Field Campus in Olivebridge, NY where she was the head cook for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, boating, but mostly being an incredible Mom and Nonna to her daughters and precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her heart was bigger than the world, always putting others first. In addition to her husband Howard, she will be extremely missed by her daughters Susan (Ted) Miller of Livingston, MT, Diana (Richard) Fodrowski of Averill Park, NY (formerly of Stone Ridge, NY) and

Jean (Jim) Bach of Saugerties, NY. Her grandchildren Josh (Nadine) Fodrowski, Jeremy Fodrowski, Caitlin Miller, Indie (Asher) Johnson and KJ Bach and her adored great grandchildren Julian and Jack Fodrowski, Landon Miller and Lucia Johnson, and her sister Silvania Wineland of Richmond, VA. Cremation was held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
