Lucille V. Bernard, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 21, 2025, in her residence at Bayfield Assisted Living after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Peter and Gladys (Bonk) Owczarzak, she was born on November 11, 1929 in Bay City. Lucille has resided in Bay City her entire life and was a graduate of Bay City Central High School. Always one to put the need of others before her own, she went on to be a nurse's aide for 30 years, retiring from Bay Medical Center. Lucille had a wonderful way of caring about her, especially towards children, and she was always there to care for them when they woke up from surgery. Over the years she enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino, crafting and shopping. She has been a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where she was an active member of the Rosary Altar Society, Senior Citizens and Felician Auxiliary. Lucille was very kind and generous with her time and talents and cherished sharing with others throughout her life.
Lucille was married to Robert J. Bernard and sadly he preceded her in death on April 21, 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Roberta (Robert) Kienbaum of Bay City; a son-in-law, William "Herb" Minatre of Idaho; two grandsons, Jeffrey Kienbaum and Adam Minatre; three great grandchildren, Caleb Kienbaum, Sonia Minatre and Nicole Minatre; a brother-in-law, Stanley Leff; and several nieces and nephews. Lucille was also preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Minatre; three brothers, Walter Owczarzak, Raymond Owczarzak and Marion Owczarzak and four sisters, Sr. Euphrasia Owczarzak, Loretta Kozuch, Frances Leff and Joan Petcher.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Bayfield Assisted Living for all they have done for Lucille. She truly enjoyed her time there and all the activities they offered.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanisluas Kostka Church with Rev. Nicholas Coffaro presiding. Private interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visiting with the family will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The family suggests donations in Lucille's memory to Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish.
