Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel - Port Huron on Mar. 25, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, Lucille Charzynski, who peacefully passed away at the age of 97 on March 20, 2025.
Lucille lived a life of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community. A devoted member of St. Edward's on the Lake Catholic Church in Lakeport for over 50 years, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a dedicated member of the Altar Society. Her deep faith led her to join the Third Order of St. Francis in 1978. She was also a proud member of the Port Huron League of Catholic Women, always striving to live out her faith through service.
A pillar of her community, Lucille was deeply committed to helping others. She dedicated countless hours volunteering with Blue Water Hospice, the St. Clair Chapter of the American Red Cross, Mercy Hospital, Port Huron Hospital, McLaren Hospital, the Visiting Nurse Association, the Port Huron Senior Center Council on Aging, Evangelical Homes of Michigan, and the Department of Pastoral Care at Mercy Hospital. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Lucille also had a passion for music and performance. She was a member of the Over 50's Follies and the Choraleers through the Council on Aging, Port Huron, bringing joy to many with her enthusiasm and gentle warm presence.
Lucille lived a long and fulfilling life, always placing family and community at the heart of everything she did. Born on July 29, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to John and Kazmiera Wojciechowski, she was the last surviving member of her beloved Wojciechowski family. She married Leonard Charzynski on August 2, 1952, and together they raised a family of six children. She was a Girl Scout leader and volunteered at local schools when her children were young, instilling in them the same values of faith and service that she upheld throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Charzynski, and her son, Christopher Mark Glen; her parents, all the Wojciechowski siblings: Cass, Mike (John) Henry, Marion, Tony, Helen, and Clara; one granddaughter, Jennifer McGarvie; and one great-grandson, Jylace Steemburg.
She is survived by her loving family: Denise (Deryl) Dunn of Glen Haven, Colorado; John (Janice) Charzynski of Jeddo, Michigan; Kathy (Steve) McGarvie of Yale, Michigan; Mary (Franklin) Crone of Glen Haven, Colorado; and Helen Charzynski of Lakeport, Michigan. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.
