Vera “Lucille” (Jones) DaVolt went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 27, 2022, surrounded by family.
Lucille was born in Vincennes, Iowa, on January 23, 1927, to Jesse Walter Jones and Nellie Bell (Cochenour) Jones. While working for Shaeffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa, she met and fell in love with Floyd (Sug) Leroy DaVolt and they were married on March 8, 1945. They were soul mates for life and spent their entire lives on the family farm in Clark County, Missouri. Lucille absolutely loved living and working on the family farm and being a wife and the mother to her children; four daughters, one son, and one set of twin sons. In their retirement years, Lucille and Sug travelled in their camper, going to Alaska in the Summer and Texas in the Winter. Lucille was also a Charter and Lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary in Kahoka.
Lucille was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and participated in many Fall dinners. She was always a hard worker, including working outside the home at numerous places until retiring from Sheller-Globe.
Lucille loved cooking and her delicious homemade angel food cakes were always anticipated by family and friends. She also always looked forward to her time with The Red Hat Ladies. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Lucille is survived by her daughters; Connie Dochterman, of West Point, Iowa, Sherry Brunton, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Rhonda Troutman (Dave) of Springfield, Missouri. She was a proud and loving Grandmother, Grandma, Granny, and Mema to 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sug, of 59 years, as well as her parents, one brother, two half-sisters, one daughter; Linda McKinney, two sons; Kent DaVolt, and Jeffrey DaVolt, and one infant son; Timothy, one son-in-law, and two grandsons.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Lucille will be conducted at 2:00pm, on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka. Chaplain Carroll Davenport will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until the time of services.
Interment will follow at the Oakland/Sand Cemetery in Vincennes, Iowa.
