Mrs. Lucille Bone King

Lucille King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Royal Funeral Home, Inc. - Huntsville on Feb. 12, 2024.
When I have gone the last mile of the way, just remember I fought the good fight; I finished my course; I kept the faith!
Mrs. Lucille Bone King was born August 19, 1929, in Madison County, Alabama to the late John Henry Bone and the late Anne Stone Bone. She was the sixth of eleven children. She received her early education in the Madison County School System and then attended Councill Training School.
Surrounded by loved ones, Lucille departed this life peacefully on February 10, 2024. Ironically, it was just one day before her 74th wedding anniversary. On February 11, 1950, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert King who preceded her in death on August 26, 2008. Lucille and Robert were blessed with five children. Patricia, their first born, also preceded her in death.
Others who await her Homecoming are her parents and stepmother, Hattie L. Bone; seven sisters: Arnella, Julia, Rozella, Elizabeth, Goldie, Earline, and Johnnie Mae; three brothers: Frank, Oscar, Robert Henry, Sr; and her granddaughter Stacy.
In her early years, Lucille confessed hope in Christ and was affiliated with Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church. Later she attended First Missionary Baptist Church. Then her compass led her to Union Hill CPCA, where under the leadership of the late Reverend McKinley Jones Jr., she found her "church home" and served faithfully until her health begin to fail.
She was a devoted homemaker and some of her most enjoyable projects were sewing, designing flower arrangements, gardening, and riding with her husband to take the kids to their sport events and for ice cream afterwards. Her funniest project was teaching Robert how to cook. He might not have learned, but there was nothing that could beat her Butter Rolls and Sweet Potato Pies!
Lucille had a passion for love, peace, and helping others in need. She taught her family to put GOD first in everything you do. Her favorite scripture for encouragement was Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
Those left to share her legacy of love are her devoted children -- three daughters: Sherry King, Debbie (Sanford) Sledge of Huntsville, AL, and Donnie (Jarvis) Stewart, Toney, AL; one son, Ronnie (Linda) King, Owens Cross Roads, AL; nine grandchildren: Angela, Zondra (John), Michael (Margo), Chevala (Terrance) Isaiah, Joseph, LaKira, Demetria, and DeLance (Whitney); twenty six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law: Gracie King Love, Cora King and Susie Bone of Huntsville, AL; two brothers-in-law: Roy Lee King of Aberdeen, MD, and Berry Lee King, Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Lucille Bone King will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Meridianville Primitive Baptist Church (1173 Mount Lebanon Road Toney, AL 35773) with Elder Terrence Stewart officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mrs. King will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024, and 8:30 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Royal Funeral Home.
