Lucille Rose Huntington Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mosdell Mortuary on Oct. 23, 2025.
Lucille Rose Ellis was born January 10,1943 to Roy and Lucy Cox Ellis in Camp Atterbury, Indiana. They moved to Junction City, Kansas and then Orderville, Utah where Rose spent most of her life in Kane County.

Her mom got a divorce and married Rex Crofts. Rose was so excited to have a dad. Her friend Toni moved in across the street. They had lots of fun together, building, and playing house, sleigh riding, swimming in the muddy ditch, and paying dress up. When she got older she loved riding horses, chasing boys, square dancing, attending 4H, and MIA. She did lots of babysitting for $.25 an hour and ironing for $.10 a piece. Then at 12 yrs old she started waitressing for the first time.

Rose was in the school band and learned to play a clarinet, then a trumpet and then went to the baritone horn. Rose worked hard in school. She liked Seminary, Home Ec., P.E, and English. On book work assignments she got As.

She really liked this boy in Hatch, Allen Huntington, She would go about every Sunday to Hatch with her friend. It was fun, all the boys were Toni's cousins. So,at 16, Rose moved to Panguitch to live with her Aunt Sara, so she could be closer to Allen. They dated all summer and were married September 19,1959 in the St. George Temple.

Rose and Allen had 4 children: Ron, Weston, Vicki and Brian. She loved being a mother. She worked at many jobs through her life. Baby sitter, waitress, cook in a café, dishwasher, motel maid, presser at Barco, and a cook/helper at the hospital. That turned out to be a good job. She worked as the dietary manager for the hospital for many years. Rose and Allen were foster parents for 30 years for over 300 kids.

In the church she worked as a primary teacher, primary chorister, served in the Young Women's program, and in the Relief Society serving as director over cooking, monthly meal coordinator, making quilts, and was a visiting teacher.

Rose has always really enjoyed people and had lots of friends. The highlights of her life was her children and grandchildren, and watching them in all the activities they did. She has 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, they call her Grandma Rosie.

She loved roses and dolls, She collected a lot of them both. Rose loved her husband, Allen, and he was so good and kind to her. He spoiled her and she loved it. She always tried to be positive and happy. She loved to have lots of company around. She felt life was good to her. She always said "Don't moan for me. Miss me some, remember all the fun and good times we've all had together."

Rose is survived by her Children; Ron (Connie) Huntington, Westin Huntington, Vicki (Will) Hooper, and Brian (Lori) Huntington, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Allen in 2023.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Kanab City Cemetery.
