Lucinda "Cindy/Lulu" Lee Rood, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on November 11, 2025, at the age of 72, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on March 18, 1953, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Cindy was the cherished daughter of Ralph and Audrey Robinson. She grew up in
Westfield, NJ, where she graduated from Westfield High School before pursuing her calling in nursing. After earning her LPN, Cindy began her career in a pediatric office in Rahway, NJ, and later devoted 35 years of compassionate care to the residents of Berkeley Heights Convalescent Center until her retirement.
Cindy met the love of her life, James R. Rood, and together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. They built their home in Westfield, where they raised their three daughters and created a lifetime of memories.
Cindy's life was centered around family, friendship, and love. She delighted in hosting Sunday night dinners, celebrating birthdays with her signature castle cakes, and stuffing stockings full of surprises for her grandchildren. She found immense joy in being present for every moment-big or small-with her children and grandchildren.
She and Jim shared countless adventures together, traveling, visiting friends, and cherishing the simple joy of each other's company. Cindy's warmth, humor, and boundless care touched everyone who knew her.
As a nurse, Cindy embodied selflessness and compassion. She loved her work deeply and often shared stories over dinner about her patients, colleagues, and the many friendships she built through the years. Her dedication and kindness left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside her-and inspired her daughters in countless ways.
Cindy is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Audrey Robinson; her brothers, Ralph and James Robinson; and her nephew, Brian Robinson.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James R. Rood, and their three loving daughters and their husbands: Sarah Murphy (Brian), Jamie Parks (Charles), and Tracy Regencia (Rene). Cindy's legacy of love continues through her nine cherished grandchildren: Jackson (16), Declan (13), Rhys (9); Lucy (13), Annie (12), Graham (8); Charles (17), Corbin (4), and Tabitha (2).
Cindy will be remembered for her kind heart, her laughter, her "Cindyisms", her devotion to family, and her unwavering ability to make everyone around her feel loved and cared for.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that her beautiful spirit will live on in the traditions she created, the love she gave, and the memories she leaves behind.
A service in Cindy's memory will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 414 E Broad Street,
Westfield, NJ. All are then invited to a repass at The James Ward Mansion, 169 E Broad Street,
