Lucy DeMayo
Manchester, NH - Lucy (LaRoche) DeMayo, at the age of 91, passed away peacefully at her home in
Manchester, NH on November 24, 2025. It was a peaceful passing - warm and safe in her bed - with her loving daughter Karen and compassionate caregiver Michelle by her.
Lucy was born in Vermont, grew up in
Newport, New Hampshire residing most of her life in either Newport or Claremont. She attended Towle High School and St. Patrick's Church.
Having married once and having had five children, she dedicated much of her life to being a good homemaker and loving mother. In her midlife, she worked as a stitcher at several of the area shoe shops.
Lucy had a zest for life and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed holidays with family, summers on Lake Sunapee, cookouts, spending time with extended family, and jelly donuts. In her retirement, she was a fan of watching Patriots football and doing jigsaw puzzles while socializing with other residents of Sugar River Mills in Claremont.
The final two years of Lucy's life were spent in Manchester where she lived with her daughter, Karen. It gave her great joy when her children would visit. These years were filled with happiness, laughter and an admirable, warrior-like effort to keep living. They went for rides, played games, watched the squirrels, and enjoyed each other's company. Special thank you to all the caregivers – in particular Michelle and Vielka - who dedicated their time, energy, and spirit to making Lucy's last two years especially enjoyable and comfortable.
Lucy is survived by three children: Jeffrey DeMayo, Pamela Locke, and Karen DeMayo, and son in-law Doug Smith, three siblings: Real, Jeannine, Bernadette, four grandchildren Sean, Leann, Jason and Daniel, four great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Lucy was predeceased by her daughters: Lauri DeMayo and Donna DeMayo, and her daughter- in-law Sharon DeMayo, her mother Alfreda Bilodeau LaRoche and father Wilfred LaRoche and her stepmother Lea LaRoche, her brothers: Denis, Harvey, and Reginald, step-brothers Roger, Armidas and Donald, her sisters: Ruth, Lorraine, and step-sisters Helen, and Claire, her maternal grandparents Delphis Bilodeau and Melinde Fournier originally of Quebec Canada and her paternal grandparents Edward and Ozanna LaRoche of Nashua, NH.
