Lucy Orta Escobar

Lucy Orta Escobar, 83, of Port Lavaca, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1942, in Port Lavaca to the late Pete and Pauline Martinez Orta.
Left to cherish her memory are, her husband of 65 years, Marcelino Escobar, Jr.; sons, Rudy (Andrea) Escobar, and Richard "Ricky" (Mary) Escobar; grandchildren, Ryan (Chasity) Escobar, Aleesa (Chase) Cortez, Aaron Escobar (Marisol Escalante), Kaylee Escobar (Gavin Trevino), Erik J Escobar, Sheila (Isaac) Dimas, Jack (Elizabeth) Warren, Carlos Saldana; great-grandchildren, Daniella, Christopher, Charlee, Noah, Delayni, Adlee, Aislee, Celine, Alivia, Isaiah, Dezmyn, Daryan, Donavyn, Jack IV, GiaVanna; brothers, Jimmy Orta, and Pete Orta Jr.
Lucy was a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, and very dedicated to her family. She was a Supervisor at Morgan Daniel's Shrimp House. She was a bookkeeper at the Formosa Clubhouse. She was devoted to her church, loved to sew and cook. She especially loved her time with her children and grandchildren. Lucy was a hard worker and loved to help people in any way she could. She enjoyed sitting outside with her husband listening to Christian music. She was funny, always full of laughter and very caring. Lucy will be greatly missed, and her legacy will live on within us forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pauline Martinez Orta; and daughter-in-law, Mary Rodriguez Escobar.
Visitation will begin on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:00PM – 8:00PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00PM at Grace Funeral Chapel, 1604 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 415 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca with Father Tommy Chen to officiate. Interment to follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery, 500 Martin Luther King Dr., Port Lavaca.
Pallbearers will be, Ryan Escobar, Aaron Escobar, Noah Resendez, Chase Cortez, Gavin Trevino, and Steven Baca. Honorary Pallbearers are, Rudy Escobar and Richard "Ricky" Escobar.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Lucy's name to Crown Hospice 1406 E. Red River St., Victoria Texas 77901.
The family would like to thank Father Tommy Chen for your visits with mom, Lavaca Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation and Crown Hospice for their tireless efforts, care, and professionalism; and for all of you who came to visit and kept her company.
