Born in Nashville, TN, on July 29, 1944, Lucy was the cherished daughter of the late William P. Hoffman Jr. and Lucy May Hoffman. She graduated from Harpeth Hall, a college-preparatory school for girls, in Nashville, TN, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English from Vanderbilt University. Lucy's early professional years were spent in a variety of roles, all of which were fueled by her passion for service and education.
In 1973, she married her beloved husband, Steve Miller, also from Nashville. In 1977 his job relocated them to Albany, GA. In both Nashville and Albany, Lucy was an active member of the Junior League, where she found great fulfillment in helping others. Her commitment to education continued throughout her career, first as a teacher at Merry Acres Middle School and later in the Dougherty County School System’s Art Department.
Lucy was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. Her love for animals, particularly horses, was a defining aspect of her life. At the Miller Farm in Terrell County, GA, Lucy truly treasured the time she spent caring for and riding her horses. The peaceful surroundings of the farm were a source of happiness.
Lucy was an avid reader and a passionate traveler, always seeking new adventures with her family and friends. Above all, she was a woman who saw the best in people, exuding the warmth and generosity that defined her southern hospitality. Her love for others and her unselfish nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Stephenson C. Miller; daughter Stephanie Kosloske (Kurt); son Morgan Miller (Lesslie); brother William Hoffman III (Barbara); and granddaughter Madeline Miller.
